April 12, Sunday
Dear Diary:
No one came today until late this afternoon and then Clyde and Audrey
came. I have been down to Clara Howton's to see Bonnie Dockery. We went
over to see Ruiby. Mary Rollins was there. Mother went to see Danny. He
is sick. Dad has been shucking corn. Aunt Ella and Uncle Glover came by.
April 13th, Monday
Dear Diary:
Danies' children have been up here about all day as usual. I have been
sitting in the swing reading a True Story magazine that Frances brought
home. She didn't stay long. Mother is papering the little bed room. Beulah
came home a few minutes ago with Benson. This is K. E. A. week and she
won't have to go to school any more this week.
April 14th, Tuesday
Dear Diary:
Beulah and I cleaned off the yard this morning and Artie ironed for Mother.
Mother is finishing papering. I read some this morning but went up to
Mrs. Betty's this afternoon. Mrs. Betty showed me a little corwn of feather
that was sound in the pillow that Mr. Lantaff died on. The feathers were
packed together like a tiny birds nest. Hubert and Tommie stopped by a
few minutes tonight and Beulah went home with them. She is going from
there to Hopkinsville to visit Pauline.
April 15th, Wednesday
Dear Diary:
I got up this morning and found that Beulah had taken my dress that Bonnie
gave me. Also my slippers and a new pair of hoses. We have been trying
to clean house a little today. I spent what time ( spare time ) I have
sitting in the swing on the front porch. I have just finished writing
a letter to Bonnie and to Buster and am very tired writing. Artie, Mother
and I are going down to Dany's' awhile tonight to see how he is. He is
sick.
April 16th, Thursday
Dear Diary:
I mailed my letters this morning and then Artie and I went down to Mrs.
Minnie Kirkwood's to pick some turnip greens. Audrey and Magaline has
been here nearly all day and mother went down there awhile. Artie and
Mother played some cards this afternoon. Its usually tight games.
April 17, Friday
Dear Diary:
I sent off a slip today for information about music lessons. I have always
wanted to take piano lessons but they cost too much. Marvin came down
this morning and got me to back a envelope to Buster for him. He wrote
and told him about passing the diploma examination. Mother fried Some
wild onions today that were awful good. I beat Artie this afternoon playing
cards.
April 18, Saturday
Dear Diary:
Marvin came down this afternoon and he, Artie, Mother and I played cards.
The mail man didn't even stop at our box this morning. That is something
very uncommon. Magaline Ridley, Rosemary and Chester's little girl, Nanny
Sue have been here today. Magaline's boy, Arthur Lee, is a great big boy
now. Mrs. Betty is staying all night with us.
